Fall 2023 Book Sale Fundraiser

Thank you to everyone who helped make it a success.

September 16, 2023 General Meeting

Our guest
speaker, WINK News Meteorologist Greg Rule, gave a fascinating
presentation on hurricane forecasting and preparedness- recapping the
timeline of Hurricane Ian, what was learned and what can be done
better if another major hurricane hits our area. His talk was both
informative and entertaining. Greg was such a big hit with our members
that we invited him back again for next year!

July 15, 2023 General Meeting

We had over 20 attendees, and 3 guests joined as new members.
Traditionally, the program for the FOCCL General Meeting in July has
been a popular round table talk about Books We’ve Read. And this year
did not disappoint; we enjoyed hearing about an especially wide variety
of books on different themes and subjects. (Click here for a PDF with
the list of books.

May 16, 2023 FOCCL Volunteer Appreciation Event

The Friends of the Cape Coral
Library Board of Directors held a luncheon to say thanks to members who
have volunteered for our organization throughout the year. There were 40
guests in the library meeting room that day. A special thank you goes to
Hospitality Committee Chair, Linda Gumm, for the delicious food and
lovely table settings and to our Membership Chair, Joanne Eddy, for
organizing the event as well as collecting (and even creating some!)
really nice door prizes. A good time was had by all.

A large
audience attended the ceremony to honor the winners of our “Coloring the
Earth” 17th Annual Children’s Environmental  Art Contest held at
the Cape Coral Library. There was a presentation about the Florida
Scrub-Jay by the President of  Peace River Audubon, Bren Curtis;
the winners received their prizes; and everyone enjoyed the delicious
refreshments. Thank you to Contest Chairperson Alessia Leathers for
organizing the art contest every year and for putting together such an
enjoyable awards ceremony. (See
the Art Gallery tab on this website
for photos of all 20
winning contest art entries, which are also framed and on display at the
library art gallery through June 29.)
