November 2022 Book Sale
July 16, 2022 General Meeting
The business portion of the meeting was followed by one of our most
popular programs about books we’ve recently read and would recommend.
Each person in attendance talked about one or two books during the round
table session.

May Volunteer Appreciation Event
The Friends of the Cape
Coral Library Board of Directors held a brunch to say thank you to
members who have volunteered for our organization throughout the year.
It was held in the Gulf Coast Village auditorium in Cape Coral on May
21, 2022. GCV served a delicious brunch/breakfast buffet, and a good
time was had by all.

May 2022 Award Ceremony
May 14, 2022 the Awards
Ceremony was held for the 16th Annual Coloring the Earth children’s art
contest sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Library and the Lee
County- Cape Coral Public Library. This year, the theme was saving the
Gopher Tortoise from the threat of habitat loss. (The names of winners
and images of the winning art entries appear on this website under ART
GALLERY.)

Sale was a HUGE success thanks to the help of over 40 volunteers.

March 2022 Reading Festival
The annual
SWFL Reading Festival was held on March 5th, 2022 on the Fort Myers
Regional Library campus. The Friends of the Cape Coral Library was a
sponsor, and we had a very busy booth where children created entries to
the Coloring the Earth art contest. This year’s contest theme:
“Let’s Save the Gopher Tortoise!”
Thanks to FGCU volunteers who helped us. We had 4 tables!
February 26, 2022
On February
26, 2022 the Friends of the Cape Coral Library had a booth at the annual
Burrowing Owl Festival at Rotary Park in Cape Coral- a fun event for
people of all ages. At our busy booth, kids created artwork about saving
the gopher tortoise for the Coloring the Earth environmental art
contest.

This was a well-attended
meeting with 23 members and 11 guests all enjoying the program
presentation on Creative Ideas for Repurposing Books. A special “thank
you” to talented crafters Carol Clement and Valorie Breen who not only
provided hands-on demonstrations of how to make cool items from old
books, but actually donated so many of their own beautiful creations to
be given out as door prizes!
