September 4 through October 30, 2025: Artwork by the Dedicated Artists of Southwest Florida (DASF)

This exhibit includes a huge array of more than 160 pieces of art by 19 different DASF members filling all the walls and three cases in the library art gallery, which is a very large area best appreciated by viewing the display in person. You can also see an extensive visual catalog of some individual artwork from this exhibit on www.DASFartists.com by scrolling down on their home page to the “Gallery of Art” section. Find out more about DASF on their site, or click here for a flyer about our current library exhibition.

July 8 through August 28, 2025: Solo Exhibit of Paintings by Robert Bozek

Over 40 paintings in a variety of sizes by artist Robert Bozek are on exhibit in the spacious art gallery of the Cape Coral Library. Larger ones adorn the walls, and smaller pieces can be viewed in the three illuminated display cases of the gallery. Visitors will notice that many of his paintings are grouped by theme. There’s a “Wizard of Oz” series, an Abstract Expressionist Floral series, a Travel series, and a Geometric Abstract series to enjoy. Plus, there are numerous depictions in the 3 display cases of his favorite subjects: lighthouses and other nautical scenes. Find out more about Robert (Captain Bob) Bozek by clicking here.

May 14, 2025 Children’s Art Contest Awards Ceremony

There were 93 people in attendance at the awards ceremony to honor the winners of our 19th Annual Children’s Environmental Art Contest “Coloring the Earth.” The event was held in the Meeting Room of the Cape Coral Library. The audience was fascinated by an interactive presentation on this year’s theme, protecting our mangroves, by Keynote Speaker Kealy Pfau, Coastal Watch Director at Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF). The young artists received their prizes, and everyone enjoyed delicious refreshments. The contest is sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Library and the Cape Coral-Lee County Public Library. (BE SURE TO SEE IMAGES OF ALL 20 WINNING DRAWINGS THAT APPEAR DIRECTLY BELOW THE PHOTOS FROM THE AWARDS CEREMONY.) The winning artwork has also been framed and is on display in the library art gallery until June 27.

On the walls of the hallway are various paintings of trees by artist Pat St. Onge, whose work was also on exhibit in the gallery during the previous two months. The theme of her current exhibit is called, appropriately, “We Love Trees!”

In the three display cases is a sampling of crafts made by members of our informal book craft group who enjoy creating lovely and useful items from repurposed old or obsolete books. Many examples in the exhibit are from private collections. If anyone is interested in buying similar book craft items, come to the next Friends of the Cape Coral Library Book Sale fundraiser scheduled for November, 2025.
